Hateful Poses

Haven't you got all the hateful poses you'd ever use yet?
Apparently, no
Although, this one is new to me
And I'm slightly amused, I suppose
As is to be expected
I wasn't borne to be angry
You seem to like me that way
Always popping some pose just to hear what I'll say
It hasn't even occured to you that I might just like it this way
I've been soaked through enough to know
to come in from the rain
And it's sad to always see you so down
down down down down down
With your head in such a hateful frown
Like you're always in a downpour of rain
This position of ours can be such a hateful thing
Oh ho oh ho ho...

One of the last songs I wrote while in Tent Sleeps 4. We never got around to recording it, although we did play it at our final show with a few other rare songs. There's a live bootleg floating around with those songs; unfortunately, my copy is incomplete. Zav and I reworked "Hateful" for Bla and it was released on "Love Me Love My Crisis". I really liked how Zav brilliantly created the dynamics on the "rain, rain rain" transition. And yes, those are my car windshield wipers at the end that was recorded with my cellphone during rush hour waiting to get on at the Tiedeman/I-480 entrance ramp.
